ORANGE COUNTY FAST PITCH 2006
6th Annual — May 08, 2006 — Anaheim Marriott
Over 400 people attended the 6th Annual Orange County Fast Pitch Competition at the Anaheim Marriott on May 8, 2007, and was combined with the Harvard Business School's Entrepreneurs Conference earlier in the day at the same venue. The Fast Pitch program featured 12 pitches by promising Southern California startups. Since then, two of the three winners went on to be funded by Tech Coast Angels. The program was chaired by John Harbison, member of the Tech Coast Angels and chief executive officer of TechSpin LLC, and co-chaired by Dave Key, member of the Tech Coast Angels and COO of YouMail. Extensive networking included a delicious buffet reception, and coffee and ice cream at the end of the program. The program was sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Greenberg Traurig, and Union Bank of California
Of the fifteen companies below, ten have now presented at a TCA screening session, and so far two have been funded by TCA -- Clupedia and MaMoCa

Word of mouth – the wholly grail of marketing but very difficult to achieve.
And here comes Buzz – the ultimate referral system on the web. Think of Buzz as “tell-a-friend” with extensive analytics so that marketers no longer have to “leave it to Beaver” but instead can launch viral marketing campaigns using Social Network Analysis.
Now that’s unique and defensible. Buzz was nominated for the innovative product of the year award by the American Electronic Association. We got our first customer with an order of $85,000. And finally, the exit could be spectacular for one reason – the network effect.
I’m David Saad. I have invested $2 million, 25 years of experience, PhD in computer science, twice on the Olympic team, and came to you tonight through – referrals – a trusted source. Thank you.
Award: Grand Prize

Internet video is exploding. eMarketer predicts Internet video advertising will triple in 2007 to $640M. However, most businesses and creative agencies lack the skills or infrastructure to produce Internet video.
My name is John McIntyre, CEO of PixelFish, and we are developing an online solution to create, deliver and track Internet videos, easily and affordably. Our system will produce video twice as quickly and at half the cost of traditional production. And our proprietary delivery technology allows videos to be viewed from websites, banner ads, email, and even iPods …. all tracked in one central on-line report.
I previously founded one of the largest web hosting providers, attracting $60M in investment, and now have PixelFish cash flow positive with over a half million in revenue.

Do I look like King Kong to you?
If you saw me with our 3D camera technology and animation engine software I’d look a whole lot scarier and a little bit hairier.
We are MaMoCa, Markerless Motion Capture. We directly produce 3D content for video game and movie applications. Our value proposition is a factor of ten decrease in production costs, in a process covered by four provisional patent filings.
By the way I’m not King Kong, I’m Gene Alexander, CEO of MaMoCa. I have fifteen years of experience in human motion capture, most recently as Stanford faculty. I’ve also previously founded a venture funded, successfully acquired tech startup.
A 3rd party research group has this 3D content production tool market at 2.5 billion dollars a year, growing at 18% annually.
MaMoCa is 1/5 of the way through our seed round funding of 1.5 million dollars. I’m Gene Alexander, MaMoCa.

AdEngage is a profitable ad serving company that connects website publishers with advertisers.
We display over one hundred and fifty million text ads a day, represent eleven hundred websites and this years revenue will exceed one million dollars. Over five billion dollars of traditional media advertising has moved to the Internet. We have been growing our revenue at 15% per month.
We focus on a text ad niche that is complementary to Google and Yahoo! Publishers display our ads in addition to Google’s to generate extra revenue from non-contextual time based ads. Two years of operations have allowed us to fine tune our processes. We could grow even faster, but lack the resources.
Our software platform can easily be expanded to display a range of ad formats. We have had prior web success and are looking for half a million dollars.

Nonprofits want to raise money online.
Of the million nonprofits in the US, virtually all want an interactive, e-philanthropy website, but almost none have one.
Our tool, NonprofitSite123, enables any nonprofit to build its own world-class website quickly, with wizard-like simplicity.
Our company, CharityFinders, has over 100 clients and has been profitable since 3Q04. Our management team took two companies public successfully. Two competitors we usually beat recently went public. Our low costs yield huge margins on new clients.
In our first market, nonprofits, we have thousands of warm leads, but need more sales bandwidth to follow up on them. What’s truly exciting is that we can easily extend NonprofitSite123 into DoctorSite123, LawyerSite123, and many other lucrative products. A leading company in our space has made a verbal offer to acquire us, but we’d rather build the company much larger before our liquidity event.
All we need is $3M to build a great sales team!

Comfozone creates quiet zones in backyards, patios, and outdoor restaurants by reducing unwanted noise by 50%. Our proprietary active noise cancellation technology takes Bose Headphones away from your ears and expands them to an open-air environment, in the form of Patio Covers, Wall Caps and Sound Shutters.
I am Masao Nishikawa, President and CEO of Comfozone. Our team has 45 years of experience with semiconductors and electronics, working for Sony and Qualcomm, and taking 2 other companies public.
We seek one million dollars to further develop our units, bring them to mass production, and penetrate the market.

I wish I could have 5 minutes, one-on-one, with just the people in this room who are most likely to invest in our company. With our software, I can do just that.
I am Sonia English, CEO of 5 Minute Networking.
Our patent- pending software allows organizations to hold 5 Minute Networking events, the business version of speed dating. Our value is to increase the efficiency of networking events and provide online follow up tools. My sister and I successfully sold our website development company and began this with $200,000 of our money.
Our 45 paying clients include 24 chambers of commerce such as Las Vegas, Detroit, and Long Beach; and the alumni associations of UC Berkeley, Michigan and 7 others.
We’ve been featured in Entrepreneur magazine, Fortune magazine’s blog, and on national TV. We seek $500,000, to expand into additional markets from conferences to online events – by increasing the efficiency of networking – 5 minutes at a time.

“For sales press 6”, “for technical support press 7”…we’ve all been caught in a dreaded phone maze of customer dis-service…but there is a better way.
“Thank you for calling Incendonet, please say the name of the person or department you wish to reach.”
Incendonet is a software development company that specializes in speech recognition solutions. Due to the complexity and high costs of deploying speech applications, such capabilities have been reserved for large enterprises and call centers…until now.
We empower small and medium sized businesses with speech recognition capabilities as a seamless enhancement to their VoIP telephone solution. We have signed a letter of intent with our first OEM partner, are completing interoperability testing with our second OEM partner and are ready to launch during Q3.
If you recognize this exciting investment opportunity, say “yes”. My name is Tim Kruse and I am the proud co-founder of Incendonet.

Everyone prints.
In fact in-house printing is 1 to 3% of a company's bottom line. For Broadcom that's $25M.
I am Rakesh Mahajan, CEO of Netaphor, and our new software, SiteAudit, an asset management tool for printers, helps reduce this print cost by 30%. A 1K-user company saves $500K.
SiteAudit works by first collecting over 500 pieces of data/printer, 10 times more than the competition. Then using this data it performs a cost reduction analysis. Results - expensive and poorly performing hardware are removed, help desk calls reduced and there are no print penalties.
In the first months usage a month a steel company found $150K in potential savings. A state government is using SiteAudit to identify print costs for better budgetary planning.
Each member of our management team has at least 15 years experience in the printer industry, we are profitable and we seek $2.5M to for sales and marketing.

Good evening, I’m Jeff Farr, President of Xploracity.com.
As a businessman and father of four, I needed to know “What’s here and What’s happening” in my city. I don’t use the Yellow Pages…or printed magazines, shoppers, or flyers. I, like millions of others, prefer to go Online. But, the results with the major search engines always seem to be short in Local content and information for my suburban community.
Online advertising is a $50 Billion industry. So, we invested $400,000 and a year of development to create Xploracity.com. It focuses on Local businesses, information, Real Estate, events and happenings for the fast growing suburban areas across America. It’s so rich in Local content and flavor that one would say, “My gosh, it’s like the Starbucks of local information!”
We are currently generating advertising revenue; and our business model will grow into more than 350 cities and $100 million dollars in revenue.
We invite you to Xplor A City today.
